Ontheroad,deputyEddieisambushedandthebrotherslearnthatLindahasbeenabducted.Adealismadetogetherback,butKargeriskilledandthecarisdisabled.Ralphmanagestogetthefourofthemtoagasstation,wheretheownerisfoundshot.Inafightforthegun,RalphiswingedandTippyseriouslywounded. Borrowingaminer'sjeep,RalphdrivesMassonettitoamainhighway,wheretwopolicementakethemintocustody.TheyturnouttobeimpostorswhodriveMassonettitoanairstripwhereDavisiswaitingwithaplane.Aftertheyboard,Ralphdrivesthecarintotheplane,overturningit.HedragsMassonettifromthewreckageandholdshimuntilrealcopsarrive.Bythetimehereturnstothegasstation,LindaiswatchingTippy'slifelessbodycarriedaway.
