Acoupleofdetectivesarebroughtintotryandsolvethemysteriousmurders,onlytoendupasthezombiesnextvictims.Itturnsoutthatduringthewar,theFrenchresistanceambushedandkilledasquadofGermansoldiersanddumpedthebodiesintothenearbylake,butfailedtotakenoticeofanyofthelocalsuperstitions(neverawisemove).Although,seeingasthisfilmappearstobesetintheearly80's,whyit'stakensolongforthemtoemergeandstartkillingpeopleisabitofamystery,butthereyougo. Not-with-standing,thevillagersquicklyorganisealynchmobtotakedownthezombiemenace,onlytoendupbeingdecimatedbytheundeadsoldiers,who's'convincing'zombiemake-upbasicallyconsistsofgreenpaint,whichdoesn'tevencoverthewholeoftheactorsfacesandkeepswashingoffinthelake. There'salsoabizarresubplotaboutoneofthezombiesvisitinghisformerdaughter,whostrangelystilllooksallof12despitethefactsheshouldbeinher40'sifshewasbornneartheendofthewar,butthensincewhendidlogicevercomeintothesefilms?Suchaswhydotheiruniformsstilllookalmostnewdespitebeingunderwaterfor40years,orhowcometheskinnydippinggirlsareonlykneedeepinthewaterwhenviewedfromthelakeside,yetappeartobeswimmingin12feetofitfromtheunderwatershots? Badacting,naffzombiemake-up(theaforementionedgreenfacepaint),painfullyobviousunderwatershotsfilmedinaswimmingpool,nottomentiontheplotinconsistenciesbiggerthantheaforementionedlakeitself.Lowbudgetdoesn'tevenbegintodescribethisfilm,whichquiteunbelievablywasdirectedbyrespectedEurohorrordirectorJeanRollin,albeitunderthepseudonameJALaser. That'snottosaythefilmisn'twithoutmerit.Ibustagutlaughingatthethoroughlyridiculousscenesofthezombiesattackingthenakedyounggirls,andtheequallyridiculousslapstickbattlewiththeangryvillagers.Utterlyhilarious,grabthesixpackandthepopcornandhaveablast!
